Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Promoting Health, Hope, and Action
It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and if you have been following my blog and website, you know this month holds a special place in my heart. This month is one of the reasons I chose to join Beautycounter and form a new partnership with Arbonne. Through these collaborations, I can give back to organizations that care for people with breast cancer, provide vital resources to those affected, and research new cures for this devastating disease.
What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
Every October, this international campaign promotes awareness of breast cancer, encouraging early detection, and supporting those impacted by the disease. With over 2.3 million women diagnosed each year, breast cancer remains a global concern that people should know about.
Supporting Those Diagnosed with Breast Cancer
One of the most important missions of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is supporting individuals who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is not just about medical treatment; it is also about offering emotional and financial support. Many advocacy groups and nonprofits provide essential services such as counseling, peer support, and help with the cost of treatment.
Through my partnerships, I am proud to contribute to these efforts by supporting organizations that help ease the burden for breast cancer patients and their families.
This is my third year donating cancer care kits to women undergoing breast cancer treatment with chemotherapy, radiation, or combination therapy. The Gift in Kind program through M Health Masonic Breast Cancer Center continues to be my choice to work with and I will be donating cancer care kits again this year on October 18th. If you wish to donate to a care kit you can donate here: Cancer Care Kits — Clean Beauty Matters. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated.
You can also donate directly to the Masonic Center to support research or to help those in need of financial assistance. Here’s that link: Breast Cancer Awareness Month | Give to the University of Minnesota (umn.edu)
Encouraging Regular Screenings
One of the biggest messages of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the importance of early detection. Regular screenings and mammograms can save lives by detecting cancer at earlier, more treatable stages. It is typically recommended that women start screening at age 40, though those with a higher risk may need to start earlier. Self-exams and doctor consultations are also key.
Fundraising for Research
A large part of this month’s efforts involves fundraising for breast cancer research. The funds raised go toward improving treatments, finding a cure, and advancing our understanding of the disease. Every donation, no matter how small, helps move us closer to breakthroughs in treatment and prevention strategies.
One event I’m partnering with this year is The Pink Social Night Event on Sunday evening October 6th. You can purchase tickets and read about the cause here: The Pink Social | Kara's take (karastake.com)
Everyone knows someone who has had to deal with illnesses, cancer or other diseases that hit our hearts in some manner. I appreciate that you have taken the time to read why these organizations are so important to me.
